WASH Program Observes World Water Day

SAJIDA’s WASH program observed World Water Day on March 22, 2018. This year’s theme for World Water Day (WWD) is ‘Nature for Water’, which emphasized nature-based solutions (NBS) to the water challenges we face in the 21st century.

Three projects under the WASH program observed World Water Day –  IMPACT and WaterCredit; WASH RMG and WaterCredit; and WASH RMG Project. Details of activities are as follows:

IMPACT & WaterCredit

With support from WAB and Water.org, SAJIDA’s IMPACT and WaterCredit Project organized an art competition with 50 participants from Nobabgonj Govt. Primary School, Lalbagh, Dhaka, followed by discussion among the beneficiaries. The children were asked to sketch the importance of water focusing on this year’s WWD theme and awarded accordingly.

WASH RMG & WaterCredit

WASH RMG project in partnership with WaterAid and Water.org observed World Water Day jointly with Upazila Administration and DPHE of Savar, Dhaka. A roundtable discussion was held on sustainable water solution for marginalized people and identified the role of GoB and NGOs in the coming days to ensure safe water. Representatives from DPHE, SAVAR Upazila, educational institutes, journalists and NGOs participated in the event.

WASH RMG Project

WASH RMG Project with support from WaterAid and Water.org observed World Water Day at three schools in Ashulia, Savar. 200 students participated in this program along with their teachers and school’s management committee. The program comprised of essay competition, hand wash demonstration, soap drive and cultural program followed by a discussion on the importance of sustainable water solution.
