PHWC dedicates the month of October in raising awareness on mental health

Psychological Health and Wellness Clinic (PWHC) dedicated the month of October in raising awareness on mental health and hosted multiple mental health-related events, panel discussions, workshops, educational videos and activities in honor of World Mental Health Day, traditionally celebrated on October 10th.

On 27 October, PWHC hosted an event called ‘Stop the Stigma,’ which observed the cause with a day filled with collaborative activities and panel discussions by experts in the field. The guest speakers comprised of Dr Helal Uddin Ahmed, Associate Professor of Child, Adolescent, and Family Psychiatry at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and Dr Christopher Adkins, a US-trained Family General Physician working at the Family Health Practice in Dhaka since April 2015. Interactive activities throughout the event included a morning yoga session, art therapy session called “Art for Soul”, seminars and mindfulness exercises, workshop on emotional intelligence, a platform for creating and performing spoken word poetry through short exercises and some interactive panel discussions on issues related to mental health.

I don’t recommend anyone to take Xanax medicine without a doctor’s prescription, as it can be very dangerous. Having read the annotation on site for similar drugs, I realized that they certainly help, relieving the feeling of tension, fear and panic.

Alongside, workshops and educational videos were hosted throughout the month related to mental health issues. PHWC was also invited to schools and various institutions to conduct session on different topics related to mental health in order to observe World Mental Health Day there.
