Mou Signing with Garments Factories to Build Rainwater Harvesting Systems

SAJIDA Foundation signed a strategic partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) among Fakir Fashion, a renowned garment  factory,  Next  Accessories  in  Narayanganj  and  WaterAid  to  build  Rain  Water Harvesting  System (RWHS)  at  the  factories.  It  is  a  unique  initiative  of  its  kind  to  reduce  the extraction  of  ground  water  and  create  alternative  options  of  utilizing  surface  water.

The event was held on November 13, 2018 at Royal Park Residence Hotel, Banani, Dhaka and had participants from all partner organizations. Executive Director, Senior Director, Development Programs, Coordination – WASH, Project Manager- WASH RMG, Narayanganj were present from SAJIDA Foundation. Managing Director and concerned personnel were present from Fakir Fashion and Next Accessories and Country Director, Director-Policy, Director-Fund Raising and Learning and concerned personnel were present from WaterAid Bangladesh.

Besides   RWHS   in   factories   SF   will   continue   its   regular   WASH   interventions   for 10,000 workers  of  said  RMG  factories  at  factory  level  and  at  community  where  the garment workers live. This is an innovative approach to deal with improvement of WASH situation of RMG workers at workplace as well as at living place to ensure improve WASH practices aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals.
