On 8th December 2018, the Alhaz Jafar Bepary High School in Nabinagar, Savar, celebrated the joyous inauguration of Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) facilities constructed by SAJIDA Foundation under its Improving Access to WASH in School project supported by HSBC through WaterAid Bangladesh. The facilities include four chambered disability-friendly toilets exclusively for female students which are equipped with menstrual hygiene management facilities; as well as safe water facility for boys, girls and teachers. About 1100 students and teachers will be benefited by the facilities at Alhaz Jafar Bepary High School. The event featured a soap drive, handwashing demonstration, discussion, drama on WASH and cultural program and was attended by Union Parishad Chairman of Dhamsona, Chairman of the School Management Committee and former Upazila Chairman, members of SMC Committee, local elites, guardians, teachers and students. The project intends to ensure safe water and improved sanitation for school children and staff by maintaining the national standard of WASH facilities in schools in Bangladesh.
