DHAKA SOUTH CITY CORPORATION HANDS OVER SADARGHAT SOCIAL SERVICE CENTRE TO SAJIDA FOUNDATION

On 8 December, SAJIDA Foundation formally receives legal rights to Sadarghat Social Service Centre from Dhaka South City Corporation in the presence of Md Fazlul Haque, Senior Director of Development Programs and Md Ahsan Habib, Senior General Manager of Administration from SAJIDA Foundation. Also present at the hand-over event were Zakir Ahmed Khan, Head of Urban Program from Concern Worldwide and Mohammad Ali, CT from Social Welfare Division among a few others. Sadarghat Social Service Centre, another centre for the Amrao Manush beneficiaries, is set to open up new doors of opportunities for the program being one of the largest Pavement Dweller Centre as of now.

Founded with an aim to give the marginalized a fair chance at life, SAJIDA’s Amrao Manush Program – funded by Concern Worldwide, Irish Aid, Team Broken Earth, Adhunika, and a private donor organization among others – provides essential services such as day-care and non-formal education for children, grants for income generation, along with health services, night shelter, cooking, bathing and other facilities for the extremely deprived and vulnerable urban poor through seven Pavement Dweller Centres (PDC) located in Dhaka and Chattogram under “Improving the Lives of Urban Extreme Poor” (ILUEP).
