On 16th January, 2019, a team from Bangladesh Bank (BB) under the JICA fund visited SAJIDA Foundation’s SMAP model center in Rangunia and Patya in Chattogram. A.K.M Syduzzaman, Director, and Md. Anwarul Morshed – Deputy Director (SMAP Project Implementation Unit) were present from BB, and Md. Monerul Islam Khan Director-Microfinance, Ruhul Amin, Regional Manager, Chattogram were present from SAJIDA Foundation. They visited the center under SMAP to discuss agriculture and livestock related technical facilities, issues and problems with SAJIDA’s borrower members. They had a two hour long interactive session with the local farmers, where they discussed how they sell their products in the local market (paddy in milk), and talked about their problems regarding livestock disease.
The team from BB along with SAJIDA’s representatives informed the farmers about SAJIDA Foundation’s call center, and how they can get services from the government by calling 16123. After the interactive session ended, BB team members gave a presentation to SAJIDA’s technical team and office staff about effective implementation of TSS (technical support service) at the borrower level. Mrs. Karima Khatun – Upazilla Agriculture Officer, Chattogram attended the session and discussed the process of giving out loans to farmers, and expressed interest in giving out loans in an easier procedures.
